Chocolate Banana Smoothie Bowl
Ingredients for Smoothie Bowl:
-2 frozen bananas, chopped
-1 tbsp flax oil (or ground flax)
-1 tsp baobab powder
-1 tbsp hemp, pumpkin, or pea protein powder
-1 tsp black milled chia seeds
-1 tsp creatine powder (optional)
-1/4 cup overnight oats (left in fridge overnight with oat pr alt milk, maple syrup, cacao nibs and a bit of cacao powder!)
-1/4 cup brewed coffee (cold brew works)
-1/4 cup oat, almond or alt milk
-1 tbsp chunky peanut butter
-1 tsp cacao powder (highly recommend using the 5 mushroom cacao powder from Harmonic Arts for some extra cordycep benefits- it’s delicious)
-1 tsp pure maple syrup
-1 tbsp cacao nibs
Ingredients for Garnish:
-1/2 ripe banana, sliced
-Handful of raw unsalted almonds
-Handful of raw unsalted cashews
-Sprinkle of hemp hearts
-Sprinkle of cacao nibs
Directions:
1.Put all ingredients except for the almonds, cashews, hemp hearts, overnight oats and 1/2 rip banana into a high speed blender. I always use my trusty @vitamixca for these tasks of course. Blend on high until smooth. To keep the texture as thick as possible I often add less liquid initially and add a bit more as I go, using the blender wand to push everything down into the blade. A smaller magic bullet would likely work well for this also.
2.Once the consistency is smooth, spoon into one side a bowl and put the overnight oats in the other half. Top with sliced banana, nuts and hemp hearts. Sprinkle some extra cacao nibs on to give some extra crunch and flavour as well.
*If you’re allergic to peanuts this would be delicious with other nut butters such as cashew, almond or sunflower!
