Season chicken thighs with salt and pepper. Place skin-side down in the air fryer at 350°F.
Whisk all remaining ingredients together to make the BBQ sauce. Taste and adjust seasonings.
After 10 minutes, flip the chicken skin-side up and cook for another 5 minutes.
Brush the BBQ sauce generously over the chicken skin and air fry for a final 5 minutes until fully cooked through.
Add extra sauce when serving. Pairs well with rice, roasted potatoes, salads, or sautéed vegetables. Leftovers are great in wraps with kimchi and pickled vegetables.
